Port Clinton

Port Clinton, Ohio otherwise known as the Walleye Capital of the World is nestled on the shores of Lake Erie and the Sandusky Bay.  With a plethora of marinas, docks, and types of housing, it is a boaters paradise. Truly a community for boaters of all types, Lake front, Bay front, Harbor front, River front,.  Miles of beach front, miles of rock/cliff front, pebble beaches, sand beaches.  Whatever you want, Port Clinton has it! 

Port Clinton the city is as diverse as the 6300 people that populate her.  Our very own community theatre known as Playmakers Civic Theatre provides entertainment and opportunity.  The downtown area is graced with unique stores such as The Popcorn Factory, Mary’s Blossom Shoppe, the World Wide Shop,

The historic Island House is being revitalized and converted into Condotel units.  Enjoy live music on the water at “Riverfront Live”.  Home of the Walleye Drop for New Years Eve, and the Walleye festival over Memorial Day week end, along with many other festivals and events. 

Port Clinton is home of the “Jet Express” along with the original mode of transportation, the “Miller Ferry”, used to visit the infamous Middle Bass“island, home of Put In Bay”,Ohio.  This island is referred to as the crown jewel of the Lake Erie islands of Ohio.  Beginning in April of each year, over 2 million visitors flock to Put-In-Bay, Ohio for an island retreat including shopping, boating, perch and walleye fishing, great restaurants, and vibrant nightlife.  Put-in-Bay is home of the nation’s third tallest monument, Perry’s Monument.

For the folks that like inland and animals we are home to the famous African Lion Safari and just minutes from Deer Park.  Both parks have hundreds of animals, you can observe or interact by feeding them.  We are just a short 30 minutes from Cedar Point, and the Kalahari Water Park.

Another area of Port Clinton that draws a great crowd of people is the Catawba Township area.  Some folks think that Catawba is a city in and of itself, but it is part of Port Clinton.  Many folks recognize and have fond memories of Gem Beach Marina.  Years ago the old roller skating rink closed but Gem Beach is alive and growing!  Gem Beach is a full service marina with her own “Chart House Café” for dining and a great sports bar by the pool for waterfront sports watching.

Port Clinton is a great place to live, raise a family, or just visit.  Our population increases greatly in the summer months with all the hustle and bustle of summertime fun.  The attractions are too numerous to list and the beauty of our area awaits your visit.
